I just came across this great blog post by “thePuck” over at The Puck Writes blog; good stuff. His “Ten Steps to Being Everywhere in Social Media” is a guide showing you the most convenient & efficient ways to be universally social on the Web.
I just wanted to share his guide with you all since it’s always a good thing to be as active as possible. This helps with business networking & also helps with making new friends. So, be sure to stop by & leave positive feedback if you find it helpful. It’s very straightforward & easy to follow.
One thing I do disagree with is step #7, where he tells you to download SocialAddict & Twhirl. I really don’t think you need both since SocialAddict does already have FriendFeed & Twitter in it (which are the only 2 sites that Twhirl supports). I think that SocialAddict is really all you need, as far as a desktop social aggregator.
Instead of Twhirl, I would recommend maybe Digsby, Yoono, Zenbe, or even Flock to help you aggregate your email accounts, plus add a few other features like IM. It is all up to you of course.
Happy reading!

Thanks so much for your kind words! It’s amazing how much of a response this post is getting!
As to your criticisms, I prefer Twhirl because it notifies when it updates, as opposed to tabbing around in SocialAddict, and I do use Digsby, though I seldom IM very much. Also, Twhirl carries Identi.ca (which I am also on, of course!) and Seesmic, which I just got a spanking new Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 to play with.
Thanks for the feedback!
No problem Puck. You’re right, some may prefer Twhirl. I’ve tried it & don’t though.
