A Review of True Like – The Like Button for Twitter

True Like is an interesting concept. It takes the popularity of Facebook’s “like” button and combines it with Twitter. This in turn creates a Twitter “like” button. Now it may seem odd to like something and have it be associated with Twitter, but here me out. What True Like does can be better for your site than any individual tweet or like.

First off, True Like gives a more relevant backlink than the no follow links that come with most tweets. And with True Like the shared link goes in more than one place. With a normal Facebook like, the link would appear on your profile and then probably get squashed under the rest of the stuff that will appear in your friend’s news feed. With a traditional tweet, more of your followers are likely to see your tweet. True Like expounds upon this by posting your link to Twitter and also to their leaderboards, giving you more exposure per like.

True Like Home Page - The Like Button for Twitter

True Like gives you two button options. One looks like the Facebook style button only it says TwitLike and is lacking the iconic thumbs up. The other option is the Twitter Review button. This style is the one I’m personally a fan of since it lets your visitors not only tweet your content but rate it as well. They can rate on a five start system, and their rating will get tweeted to their followers. The only real downside is that if you want an effective button for every post on your blog, then you are going to need to create lots of individual buttons since each will only correspond to one link.

All in all, True Like is a unique and somewhat odd free tool. It is better than your average tweet button since it puts your link in two places, and it combines a rating widget and a sharing widget into one. You can check out True Like.
