MeeID | Your Online Business Card [Review]
I just came across this very easy-to-use site & had to share. MeeID has to be one of the simplest sites I’ve signed up for. It allows you to create a very simple, yet effective online business card. The only restriction about it is that you can only use 10 lines to sell yourself.
First you are asked to enter a title & choose a color for it. You can only choose between basic colors such as black, red, orange, blue, etc. Next you’ll be prompted to enter your 10 lines of text. If you would like one of your 10 lines to link to a website, social profile, or anything else, you can do that as well. All you have to do is enter it in the http:// line (as pictured below).
Your characters per line are also limited, so beware of that. I’m not sure how many it is but when you run out, you just won’t be able to type anymore.

Next you’re asked to enter the favorite MeeIDs, but you can skip this step if you’d like. I find this kind of odd. If I’m new to this site, more than likely I may not know anyone else here (which I don’t), so I won’t have anything to enter here. Luckily, you can always just go back & add to this later. You can enter up to 10 MeeIDs here.

Next you can upload a photo but, you can also skip this step as well if you’d like. If you choose to upload a photo, the next step allows you to crop it. After that, you’ll all done & it takes you to your MeeID. I just threw mine together but you can check it out here if you’d like. As you can see it’s very easy & takes about 2 minutes to set up.
There’s only a few things you can do on MeeID after creating one. You can change it, view your favorites, search for users & iew random MeeIDs.
I like how the MeeIDs that you put in as your favorites are shown at the top of your MeeID page (as you can see below). When you hover your mouse over the “(your name here)’s favorites” link, you’ll see all the MeeIDs appear in a drop down list.

Clicking the”View a Random MeeID” button (the last image on the right pictured above) is also a nice touch; it’s kind of like the “stumble” button on Stumbleupon – you never know what/who you’re going to see.
I think MeeID is great for anyone who is looking for a very simple way to market themselves online, without all the technical challenges that most sites require.
Besides being a bit plain (which some prefer), I think MeeID has great potential & could prove to be very useful. I mean, Twitter is very simple & people are now addicted; so, we’ll have to see how it goes.
What do you think? Is it too simple? Is this something you’ll consider using? Will it spread like wildfire?
Update: MeeID is now a blog (no relation), instead of a very cool online business card.
