Hosting in the Clouds vs Dedicated
If you own a website then you understand the need to have reliable hosting, especially if you receive a substantial amount of traffic. No one likes a slow loading website; that’s the easiest way to lose traffic. A Dedicated Server is a must for companies who really want their website to thrive. Since you’re not sharing, there is no one else to slow you down. In this case, it’s better not to share.
“A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone.”
Cloud Computing can be very beneficial for those wanting a slick, feature-rich interface along with speed and reliability. Plus, many systems now support mobile devices so that you can have complete control wherever you go.
“Cloud computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information, are provided to computers and other devices on-demand, like the electricity grid.”
Cloud computing is less expensive than dedicated hosting and often where small business start. They then move up to dedicated once their company is really off the ground and making decent income. Though I’ve heard that cloud computing can be unreliable at times, I cannot totally vouch for that but I definitely do want to try cloud sometime soon.
Which do you prefer?
