Diet Butler – A Complete Diet Planner with Notifications [iPhone Application]
How many times have you tried a diet and ended up going off of it in just a few weeks, or even worse in just a few days? I know I have. It can often be hard to get motivated and stay motivated. Besides meal planning there’s the shopping list, finding recipes and remembering to eat on time. Just thinking about it makes it seem almost impossible, but it’s not because Diet Butler is to the rescue.
In their own words you get:
- Calendar: choose your desired foods from the product categories.
- Create Recipes: input recipes from your favorite books or magazines.
- Meals: choose to eat as many meals as you wish to make up your daily calorie total.
- Calculator: fill in your statistics and calculate your recommended daily calorie intake.
As you can see, it’s definitely the ultimate app for managing your diet and staying sane!
Calculator
Though this is not the first menu option on the app, this is where you should start. You’ll need to enter your name, weight (in kilograms), height (in centimeters), age, gender and activity level. Then click on the “Calculate” button to figure out how many calories you should be eating per day. Then you can click on “Save to Profile.”
Calendar
This is where all of the magic happens! This should be your next step after figuring out your calories. Here you can plan your meals by adding foods/dishes to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Diet Butler uses your recommended calories and divides it up between the three meals so that you know about how much you should be eating for each. You can even add your own foods by tapping on the “Add” button. You’ll need to know the calories per 100 G, so be aware of that. Additionally, you can add more meals or snacks (besides breakfast, lunch, dinner) by clicking on the clock icon at the bottom of the calendar.
The clock icon also lets you manage your meal schedule. If you don’t like the default times that is set for your meals, you can change them. If you don’t like the percentage weights that are set for your meals (ie 30% for breakfast, 40% for lunch, 30% for dinner) you can change that as well. You will receive alerts for each of your meals and the sound for that can be customized here also.
A nice feature in this area is the option to keep track of how many glasses of water you drink per day (the maximum is 8). It even has a nice little sound effect for whenever you tap a glass (to empty it). I also like that for the foods that you add to your calendar, you can also view the recipe for them. A nice touch though, would be the ability to add ingredients from the recipes to your shopping list (which you can create under fridge or by clicking the shopping cart icon at the bottom of the calendar).
Lastly, you can also add items to your favorites. Favorites can be accessed by clicking on the star icon at the bottom of the calendar.
Fridge
Once you finish adding meals to your calendar, you can view them here in the fridge. Clicking on an item will show you the name, category weight, calories and meal that it’s under. You can also create, save and edit your shopping list here by clicking on the shopping cart at the top. It’s easy to do because you simply enter the text as you like; there’s no selecting items and not being able to find certain things because it’s not listed.
Recipe Creator
If you want to add your recipes, you can do that here. You’ll be able to choose food items from the app and then save it as your own recipe. Also be sure to select the correct category for your recipes.
As you can see, this little app is jam packed with features! Diet Butler aims to make dieting productive yet fun, and I think it has succeeded. Now there’s no more excuses for not sticking to your diet; just use your own personal butler!
