Blog Hacked – Lost Most of Posts

So like some others out there, I was very lazy when it came to upgrading WordPress to the latest version. Because of that I suffered a terrible hack attack. The only way I could get rid of it was to backup my posts and comments, uninstall and then reinstall and start fresh. Everything was good until I imported my backup into the new setup. All of my posts from 2009 are now gone. So all that work is now gone forever.

This is extremely frustrating and discouraging. I don’t know why it didn’t back up EVERYTHING. At this point I’m ready to throw in the towel but I really just need to think on it. The only thing I can think of is maybe going through the Google cache now (before it’s updated) and get all the posts that I can. So, if you’re wondering what happened, now you know.

While I’m at it, I might as well explain why I have barely been posting here. My only income comes from blogging (on other blogs) and freelance writing. With all the different sites I write for, I find it extremely hard to keep my own blog updated. I’m still trying to see if I can work this all out. Will keep you updated!

    Search your old posts in Google. It cashes them, so you’ll be able to copy them back to your blog.

      Yea that’s what I’ve been doing :) I don’t want to bombard my subscribers with posts so I’m scheduling them throughout the months. It’s a pain but rather that than lose all my posts I guess.

    Very sorry to hear about that Charnita. I suffered the same thing about a year ago and had to begin from scratch with also the same feelings of “is it worth it?”. I am glad that I made the decision to stick with it. I’m sure that you will be able to not only recover most of your blog posts, but also come back stronger and better!

      Thanks for the encouragement Tim :) I did leave the blog hanging for quite a few months after that but I’m ready to come back strong now :)
