If you don’t know already, the new redesigned FriendFeed beta is out & open to all to check out & test. So far there’s a lot of mixed reviews but for the most part it seems that people like it a lot better. In my opinion, it’s a nice change but there’s still a lot of features that are missing.
What I dislike most though is that now none of my FriendFeed Greasemonkey scripts work anymore! So, if you’re a Greasemonkey lover like myself, this isn’t a good thing. Fortunately though, I have been able to find a few Greasemonkey scripts to get started with FriendFeed beta.
First we have the Better Beta FriendFeed by Rahsheen Porter (SheenOnline).
This is actually my favorite script for FriendFeed. As I wrote about on MakeUseOf, it allows you to turn FriendFeed into your one-stop social headquarters. Though I was writing about the old script for the regular Friendfeed there, the new script for FriendFeed beta still allows you to do the same thing – it’s just displayed a little different.
Better Beta FriendFeed eliminates the need for all those separate FriendFeed tab scripts. With this script you can add as many tabs as you want for any site(s) you choice & you’ll then be able to access that site right from FriendFeed.
In the FriendFeed beta, there are no longer tabs along the top so, this script cleverly displays the favicon for each site along the top instead (as pictured below). When you click each favicon, the site opens up in the window below, leaving the top header & right sidebar in tact.

The Better Beta FriendFeed script also allows you to enable a “Cleaner FF” option. What this does is cleans up FriendFeed just a bit such as changing the font & adding dividers between content. You can see a before & after screenshot below. As you can see the “After” picture looks much better than the before one.
Next there’s the FriendFeed beta Farsi Style script by AlirezaDot.
What this script does it that it outlines each FriendFeed post & right aligns all posts & comments text (as you can see below). Unfortunately though, the outlines seems to appear very light (almost unnoticeable) on my screen – not sure if it’s my computer or what.
Next there’s the Cleaner FriendFeed beta script by AJ Batac.
This script basically does the same thing as the Better Beta FriendFeed script above (minus the tabs).
- Cleaner and cool look and feel.
- Different font style.
- Highlights friends comments with baby yellow.
- Highlights your comments with baby blue.
- Dims comments from non-friends (normal color of FriendFeed comment).
- Separated each posts with a bottom border.
Then there’s the FriendFeed-Comment Background script by LouCypher.
This is a very simple script that changes the background color of you & your friends’ comments.
I’m hoping that within the next few weeks we’ll be seeing more scripts being updated to work with the new FriendFeed beta. Until then I guess we have to either work with what we have or keep using the old FriendFeed until we can’t anymore.
Know of anymore scripts that will work with the new FriendFeed beta? Feel free to share! Also, what do you think of the new FriendFeed beta?

I personally really like the new Friendfeed, it just seems to be more user friendly
I agree! I like it a lot better as well.
