There are a lot of url shorteners on the web right now. A lot of people use & prefer TinyURL, though I don’t know why, since is doesn’t provide any extra features.
I just want to point out a few of the unique (underrated) url shorteners that add a few extra features, making them worth using. If you know of anymore unique url shorteners, feel free to leave it in a comment.
Ewerl | What makes it unique? “Each Ewerl has a usage stats page (as pictured to the right), which will eventually include such nerdy details as user agents, HTTP referrers and user IP addresses. There’s already an RSS feed available for each Ewerl to watch the most recent activity.”
You can also provide your email address so that Ewerl can send you daily reports on your urls. Of course, you can cancel the email reports at any time. If you don’t want to give out your email, you can just subscribe to the RSS feed available on your usage stats page.
Bit.ly | What makes it unique? You can add your own custom keyword for each url (which many shorteners do already allow). Your keyword will be added at the end of the url (http://bit.ly/). For example, this url – http://socialwebtools.info/2008/07/23/add-a-little-zen-to-your-email-with-zenbe/ – can be changed to http://bit.ly/zenbe.
You can also view a general history page for each url, as pictured to the left. As you can see, it shows your keyword, original source, thumbnail, mirrored url, total clicks & traffic sources (which got cut off in the screenshot).
Lastly, bit.ly allows you to receive an XML or JSON file for your url.
Ucash.in | What makes it unique? Your shortened links are always saved in your account. You can see how many times each url has been clicked on. The number of clicks is never reset; the number you can see is the lifetime amount of clicks per url.
Also, “when your Ucash links are clicked on, you make revenue from a redirect that can be an interstitial or top frame type advertisement. The current Revenue Sharing Rate (RSR) is $1 US for every 4000 top banner ad impressions, and $1 US for every 2000 intermission ad impressions.”
Do you use any of these url shorteners? If so, which one do you prefer? If not, which one do you use?

I’d like to mention a couple more similar services.
ReadThisUrl and Doiop – they both can use the keywords in shortened url, which have been selected by a user.
MemUrl – I personally sometimes use it to store various urls – the website’s name is good because once memorised – never forgotten.
I tried all of those. Not bad. But I prefer http://easyuri.com. It is fast and allows me to create shorten URL fast with their browser toolbar. I can customize my url name too!!
Here is one that is a quite unique URL shortner http://clockurl.com
It offers time sensitive redirection. You can set a time when the link will be made available and you can also set a time when the link will expire. Very useful in web marketing.
If offers many other interesting features such as: custom keyword, password protected, limited number of hits.

Thanks for sharing George. There are a lot more now that have surfaced; it’s so hard to keep up with them all.
Oh very nice. Thanks for sharing! There are SO many more since I’ve written this post, I’ll have to do another.
