5 Firefox Extensions that Save Time [List]

This is a Guest Blog Post by Kelly.

There’s a reason I prefer Firefox over Internet Explorer or any other browser, well, besides the fact that it’s more user-friendly and less bulky – the cool third party extensions that make browsing the web a truly satisfactory experience. There are tons of addons and plugins available for all the browsers out there, and picking the best ones is a chore that’s not easy, especially when my idea of good may equate to your idea of mediocre; but I’ve tried to come up with a list of five extensions that are bound to be useful if you’re a regular user of the Internet, like me:

· Snap Links: Are you one of those people whose desktop is always cluttered with more than 10 tabs (this is one reason I switched over to Firefox from IE – the convenience of tabbed browsing was offered by the former long before the latter even thought of it)? If so, this extension is a must for your arsenal of web tools. Snap Links allows you to draw a virtual box around all the links that a search engine throws up and open them all in different tabs. Saves you the trouble of having to right click on each of them to open them in various tabs. [ Get it here ]

· Foxy Tunes: Love to work with the music on but tired of having to switch between your browser windows, programming tool and music player? This extension lets you play music and control your player from within your Firefox browser so you save yourself a lot of time. [ Get it here ]

· Reminder Fox: Absent minded and always in front of your computer? This cool add on allows you to create to-do lists and set reminders with alarms that ring at the right time. Now you can work in peace without having to worry about that pot you left cooking on the stove. [ Get it here ]

· Answers: A good addon if you’re forever searching the archives of your memory for meanings for a particular word, Answers offers you a few explanations when you click a link while simultaneously pressing down the ALT key. [ Get it here ]

· Tab Scope: Another must-have for those aficionados of multiple tab browsing, this extension allows you to move your mouse on top of a tab window and view a preview of the page in question. Not only are you allowed a peek into the page without having to shift between tabs, but you’re also able to click on links within the page. [ Get it here ]

Hi Petter, these are Firefox Addons so they have to be added to Firefox. If you add them with your Firefox browser open, there should be no problem. Can you please explain in more detail what the issue is?

My favourite Firefox extensions are NoScript (prevents unauthorised javascript from being run – useful if you click the wrong page or are removing malware), Speed Dial (fancy bookmarking tool), British English Dictionary (essential for typing errors), BlockSite (prevents unwanted sites), Better YouTube (for ripping Youtube videos and other tricks), and FEBE (for backing up your Firefox environment).

    What are your favourites?

My favorites for right now are Kwout, FaviconizeTab, Shareaholic, Greasemonkey, Greasefire, FireFTP & Fox Clocks (so I can know what time it is in Iraq where my hubby is).
