Misspellings and improper grammar usage are a sign that you are careless, so make sure you’re sending off the right vibes with the right grammar and spelling.
2. Don’t get too personal.
Save your personal sharing for Facebook and Twitter and remember that LinkedIn is for the professional in you. Your LinkedIn following doesn’t care that you just became an aunt, or that your son is going to college, or that your dog pooped in the house. Keep all the information you share on this site professional. Make sure that it relates to your career or your business, and use your other social networks for the rest.
3. Don’t go recommendation crazy.
Everyone wants to earn solid recommendations, but the keyword is solid. Viewers of your profile are going to be attracted to the recommendations that contain good details and come from important people. It’s more important to earn a few recommendations from people who will take the time to write a great one than to earn a multitude of recommendations that don’t share a large amount of information.

4. Don’t ignore the fun features.
There are many unique things that you can do on LinkedIn, and if you don’t know about them, you’re not using LinkedIn to its full capabilities. LinkedIn has a news feed where you can access valuable information from other users and gain industry-related news. There’s also an Events section where you can search for or promote an event. LinkedIn also allows you to join groups, post discussion questions and poll your audience. All of these tools are a great way to educate yourself and build a relationship with your connections and others in your industry.
