Have you ever wanted to send a private message to someone but didn’t trust sending it by email, IM or even SMS? Well I just came across Privnote & what an interesting concept it is. It’s a web tool that you can use to send private notes.

Privnote is nice because you get a link to the note, and once clicked the note is destroyed. So that means that the note can only be seen once - hopefully by the intended person.

If someone intercepts the link and sees the note before the person who’s intended to read it does, that person will know that the note has been eavesdropped on. You also have the option to be notified when your note gets read.

Also, if you send a note and suddenly change your mind about it, you can click the link yourself which will destroy the note and prevent the receiver from reading it. Can you name an email or IM client that does all of this for you?

Creating a private note on Privnote is very easy. You simply type a message, select whether you want to be notified when your note has been read (you must enter your email if so), you can also enter a reference (something to help you remember who/what the note is about).

After that, you’ll get a link that you can send to the intended person. Privnote also gives you the option to email the link or view it to destroy it, both right from the site.

I’m not 100% sure of the extreme privacy that this site promises but, it’s definitely a good idea. What do you think?
