Yesterday I received an invite to Pikter, a new photo sharing service that allows you to share pictures on Twitter and/or Jaiku. I’m not a huge photo sharing person myself but to anyone that is, this site will definitely come in handy for you. Of course, it is in private beta so you will need to request an invite.
Pikter is very easy to setup & only requires that you enter a few details in addition to your Twitter username & password and/or your Jaiku API Code.

Once you do that, Pikter will give you a personal email address where you can send pictures to share on Twitter and/or Jaiku. “You can send photos to your *special* Pikter address from your email or from your phone. Please keep this address secret and secure.”
That’s about it. As you can see, it’s very easy to setup and use; just a matter of sending an email to your personal email address.
Pikter also provides you with a Pikter Stream url & an RSS Pikter Stream url that you can share with others. They’re currently working on giving you the option to allow non-Pikter users the ability to comment on your Pikter Stream items. This should roll out within the next week or so.
In case you’re wondering how to setup your email to Pikter, it’s also very easy & straightforward. You must send your picture as an attachment in jpg or jpeg format. The title of your email is what will be used as the caption of the picture & must be 140 characters or less of course.
You can view my test post here. As you can see, there are a few user option on the page allowing you to share my picture, bookmark it & even follow me on Twitter and/or Jaiku.
Personally, I don’t see where I will use this service that much but that’s just me. I think I would probably use it more if I was able to post from my IM or even Ping.fm; that would be a lot more convenient for me.
So, do you think that Pikter will come in handy for you?

I like it so far though it did mess up my post on Twitter (cut it off & didn’t post the link) and Pownce (made it take up like 20 lines). lol
