Helium | A Directory of Real World Knowledge

Today I came across Helium, a knowledge based site that has so much going on that I can’t possibly write about it all here. The video above is a great start to finding out the possibilities on Helium.

Most bloggers naturally love to write & Helium is a great way to get even more exposure for your writing. At Helium, you can write for fun and exposure or for a hefty sum.

In the marketplace, you can see titles that publishers need articles for right now along with all the assignment details! So far, the payment offers I’ve seen there are pretty good, ranging from $24 - $160.

Clicking on the Write tab lets you start writing right away. But instead of getting paid for your articles, you get provided with recognition and have the potential to earn extra cash if a publisher decided to contact you directly. You start by picking a channel which is then broken down into sub channels. I really like the way the channels are broken down, making it really easy to find your writing niche.

Helium also holds many contests where you can win cash and other prizes. If you’re looking for a little friendly writing competition and a way to make some extra money, then you should definitively take a peak.

In their own words:

Helium is home to thousands of writers who share their expert knowledge, insight and point of view on virtually any topic. Every article is rated by Helium’s writer-members through peer review. After many ratings by many people, quality content rises to the top. At Helium, it’s easy to become part of our writing community by sharing what you know. Write essays and reviews, or hone your journalism skills by focusing on news articles. Compete in writing contests or see your name in print by getting published with one of our publishing partners in Helium Marketplace.”

There’s really a lot to explore on Helium & can be a little overwhelming at first; I’m still discovering new things there & hoping you will find Helium just as resourceful as me.
